The English Symphony Orchestra is broadcasting an online concert of "music by outsiders", featuring Viktor Ullmann's Chamber Symphony, as well as music by Mahler, Erwin Schulhoff and Mieczysław Weinberg.
This evening we remember Viktor Ullmann, a victim of the Holocaust whose only surviving string quartet was composed in the Theresienstadt ghetto. This work is bookended by more familiar quartets by Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn.
