Ullmann’s son treated with controversial drug
Johannes Ullmann, son of Viktor Ullmann, escaped Nazi Germany via the Kindertransport, only to spend much of his life in an English mental hospital, being treated with a cocktail of drugs including the controversial antipsychotic drug Clozapine.

This evening we remember Viktor Ullmann, a victim of the Holocaust whose only surviving string quartet was composed in the Theresienstadt ghetto. This work is bookended by more familiar quartets by Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn.
